Daily Digital Assigments

On this page you will find the daily assignments that were also emailed to families.  I will try to keep a running list with the newest on the top so that you can refer back to previous days should you miss.
Dear Parents & Students,

I hope this email finds you well! We sure do miss seeing your faces everyday, but are so thankful for our virtual meetings! The following email will be a guidance as to how we are going to move forward with learning in the weeks to come.

Students will be engaging in a reading/writing/social studies activity each day as well as a math activity. All emails will be sent before 9:00 AM to instruct students on their daily learning tasks. These emails will be sent to both parents and students. Monday will be a review day of the topics from the week before. This day is reserved for independent practice of those concepts because teachers will not be available  for help or email responses from 8-12 that day. Tuesday through Friday will be time for students to learn new concepts and/or refine concepts already taught. Students may receive an instructional video from their teacher in math or reading to help them with the concepts being taught. Small group instruction on those concepts will occur during the week. Please look for an email from your specific teacher with your assigned day and time to meet.

This week, we will have our connection meeting on Thursday, April 9th anywhere from 10:30-12:00. Please look for a specific sign-up from your teacher for this day and time.

Below you will find the assignments for today.
4/7 Tuesday

Hi, Families! We hope you had a wonderful weekend. The 5th Grade Team of teachers are very proud of your hard work and dedication!  In Literacy/Social Studies this week, you will be working on a Colonial America Activity that is due on Friday.

For today,
  • Read your independent reading book for 45 minutes
  • In the Hagerty Google classroom there is a Colonial America Activity. Use the links to the Life in the Colonies document to build your knowledge about the colonies. Be sure to record your findings in the chart. Work on this throughout the week. It is due on FRIDAY, April 10th.
  • In the Math Google Classroom there is a Practice Buddy lesson to complete on Volume of Prisms. Please push the “Turn-In” button when done.
Here is a video I made to help refresh your memory of the topic. Feel free to pause throughout to check for understanding. Also, it has information on today's lesson and Thursday's.
Also, attached is the Student Resource page from your book (just for reference) and I have put the enVision animation on the Math Google Classroom as well for you to access.

4/3 Friday
Greetings!

We made it to Friday! I truly miss you so much! It was great to Zoom in small groups yesterday. Please feel free to connect via email should you want to reach out.
As I mentioned, with the extended time out of the classroom, the directions we've been given from Dr. Tucker and Dr. Brown have begun to change. More information will be coming out soon from them (so look for that), but I do know that our learning will begin to look different next week. We will begin focusing on new learning in the coming days (probably Tuesday).

Hey there families!  Thank you for continuing to be flexible as we have to embark upon another week of digital learning.  This week we will be exploring some new activities.

For today,
  • Read your independent reading book for 45 minutes
  • In your Hagerty Google Classroom there is a Readworks assignment.  Please push the “Turn-In” button when done.
  • Complete 1 or 2 MATH iReady lessons.  Remember to take your time and strive for 80% accuracy
Remember that you should spend about 30 minutes per lesson and strive for accuracy. A few of you are finishing in less than 10 minutes and/or aren't doing your best. If you happen to get an easier lesson for you, maybe do 2.
  • For today's math game you get to choose! Choose any of the 5th grade games from this website: Game Center (all Envision math games in one place)
  • A new chapter of Thief of Always is attached. It's a good one today!
  • There's a fun Friday FlipGrid in the Hagerty Classroom

Today the "boxes" to fill in for the math use the traditional multiplication algorithm. If you aren't use to doing it this way, just do partial products then add the top two numbers together then the bottom two numbers together. We can talk about this in the Zoom classes.
  • Two new chapters of Thief of Always are attached.

3/30 - Monday

Greetings!
Well, one week down. I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I can't wait to be back in the classroom and see everyone's faces. I hope this email finds you and your family well.

A few things for today:
- Make sure you are using the google doc that I create when I assign work in the Google Classrooms. It makes it much easier for me to find, access, and comment on.
- When doing math on Pearson/enVision some of you have asked for help. Remember that at the top left of the screen is a "Question Help" button. From there you can watch the Animation that might help you. If you need more help, please let me know!
- There are two more chapters of Thief of Always attached to this email.
- Also, there's a new FlipGrid posted on the Hagerty 19/20 Google Classroom.
- Let's plan on a Zoom meeting tomorrow at 9:45 again.

Now here for the 5th grade email:
